Product description
Construction and finish: The plate uses a sintered diamond layer approximately 0.04 inches (1 mm) thick bonded to a rigid backing. The manufacturing method fuses the diamond abrasives into a durable carbide matrix so the abrasive surface resists flaking and preserves its profile during extended use.
Included accessories and dimensions: A dressing whetstone is supplied to refresh the diamond surface when it loads. The dressing block measures roughly 3.0 x 0.6 x 0.6 inches (75 x 15 x 15 mm). The main plate is a square finishing stone at 6000 grit suitable for final polishing.
Materials and capabilities: The diamond layer is ideal for hard-to-cut materials — hardened steels, carbide, stainless alloys, hammered blades, ceramics, glass and dense stone. Because the diamonds are embedded in a carbide resin, the plate cuts quickly for a high-level finish and maintains even abrasion across the surface.
How to use: No soaking is necessary; the stone can be used straight away. Keep a liberal flow of water over the surface during sharpening to carry swarf away and maintain cutting efficiency. Use the included dressing block when the surface begins to glaze or load to restore cutting action and evenness.
Performance notes: The stiff, wear-resistant surface offers repeatable angles and flatness, making it suitable for precision polishing, edge refinement, and leveling. It transitions well to stropping or paste for the final micro-bevel when a razor-like edge is desired.
Pros
- Durable sintered diamond surface that stays flat
- Fast cutting for a 6000-grit finish on very hard steels
- Comes with a dressing block for easy maintenance
Cons
- Can glaze or load and requires periodic dressing
- Higher cost compared with basic stones
- Not for coarse stock removal
VerdictThis 6000-grit diamond square performs as a fast, long-lasting finisher for demanding steels and hard materials. The sintered carbide-diamond surface preserves flatness and resists wear, delivering uniform polish and precise edge upkeep without the need for pre-soaking. It ships with a compact dressing stone for maintenance, and when used with generous water it excels at final honing, edge refinin

Top-tier hand sharpening stone
Outstanding handheld finishing stone — produces a refined edge quickly and feels very solid in use.
-
Wanabe2 5/5
Excellent for super-hard metals
Works well on high-Rockwell plane blades and chisels. Cuts quickly for a 6K stone, can load up but is easy to clean, and pairs nicely with a strop for hair-splitting edges.

Premium finishing stone
High-quality diamond surface. Delivers consistent results and a smooth polish.

すなりす 4/5
Ideal for final micro-bevels
Gives a sharp 6000-grit edge. Its hardness can throw slight shine variation across a full bevel, but it keeps flatness and polishes well for fine cutting edges.

Does the job — a bit pricey
Good feeling stone and reliable results. A touch expensive but performs well across about 20 knives so far.

High-quality, consistent set
Consistent heights make switching grits in a guide easy. Great product if you’ve already mastered lower grits and techniques.

Quality control hit-or-miss
First unit arrived with debris embedded, but the replacement was flawless. Cuts very hard CPM15V steel with ease.

Great polish on premium steels
Produces a mirror-like finish on ZDP-189, HAP40 and SG2. Recommend dressing with a polish stone.

Solved a long search
As a professional sharpener I needed durable, high-grit plates. The 1000, 3000 and 6000 set matched the originals I’d lost and I’d buy them again.

Good quality and long-lasting
Very fine grit, ends up almost mirror-smooth. Very useful for extra-hard steels.

Handles very hard steel
Brought a hard REX 121 blade to sharpness after coarser steps. Smooth, flat surface — not rough like many diamonds.
