2-Pin T-Style Dipole FM Wire Antenna for Sony Boomboxes

Product description

What's included: one 2‑pin T‑shaped FM dipole wire antenna with an attached 2‑pin connector ready for Sony boombox antenna ports.

Compatibility and purpose: This antenna is intended as a direct replacement for numerous Sony boombox models that use a 2‑pin FM lead. It reconnects the FM aerial to systems that have lost or damaged their original wire antenna, restoring radio reception without internal modifications.

Materials and build: The conductor is durable copper wire, sheathed in a flexible outer jacket to tolerate routine bending and routing. The connector plugs are treated to resist oxidation for more stable long-term signal transfer. The assembly uses a reinforced T‑shaped dipole layout to present a balanced FM reception profile.

Size and form factor: The unit features a compact T head with approximately 1.5 meters of flexible wire (sufficient for placement along walls or behind furniture) and a standard two‑pin plug that fits the reserved antenna socket on compatible Sony systems.

Installation and use: No tools are required — simply insert the 2‑pin plug into the boombox antenna port and position the T-shaped wire for the best reception. The slim profile makes it easy to route along molding, behind components, or taped discreetly to a wall. It’s intended for household repair and routine replacement of worn or lost aerials.

Pros

  • Simple plug-and-play replacement
  • Copper conductor with anti-oxidation plugs
  • Compact, easy to position

Cons

  • Wire insulation feels lightweight
  • Not reinforced for heavy pulling
  • No mounting hardware included

VerdictA straightforward plug-and-play replacement that restores FM reception on compatible Sony boombox units. The T-shaped dipole layout and copper wiring lift weak stations and reduce dropouts. Construction is practical and flexible for everyday use, though the insulation and gauge are modest. Good for household repairs and restoring lost or damaged factory antennas.

  1. Samuel 3/5

Stopped the constant hiss in our break room

I bought this to fix the gym’s break room radio. It plugged into the old Sony receiver and I taped the T along the wall. Stations came in much clearer and staff no longer had to stream music from phones. The cable feels a bit thin and tugging nearly pulled it free, but it brings in the local channels we need and keeps the radio usable.

  2. Ling Ai 5/5

    No-fuss replacement that improves reception

Easy to fit and it boosted FM reception on my compatible Sony unit. Lightweight and practical, a straightforward swap for a lost or worn factory antenna.
