Product description
Overview
The TL-SG108PE V3 is an eight-port Easy Smart gigabit switch that includes four 802.3af Power over Ethernet ports. Each PoE port can supply up to 15.4 W to connected devices, with a combined PoE budget of 57 W. The remaining ports operate as standard 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 interfaces. Switching capacity is non-blocking and designed to handle typical small-network traffic demands.
Management and Software
This model provides a web-based management interface and a simple configuration utility for monitoring and basic administration. Key features include port-based and 802.1Q VLANs for network segmentation, 802.1p/DSCP QoS for prioritizing voice and video, IGMP snooping for multicast efficiency, rate limiting, port mirroring and traffic statistics. Built-in cable diagnostics and port status pages help identify connectivity issues.
Build and Installation
The switch is housed in a compact metal chassis with ventilation but no fan, so it runs silently—suitable for closets or bedrooms. It has mounting slots for wall installation and rubber feet for desktop placement. All eight ports are auto-sensing gigabit Ethernet; PoE ports are clearly labeled for easy identification. Typical in-box contents are the switch unit, a power cord, wall-mount brackets with screws, and a quick install guide.
Use Cases and Limitations
Ideal for adding a few powered devices—wireless access points, VoIP phones or PoE cameras—while keeping several additional gigabit uplinks or wired clients. It upgrades a purely unmanaged switch with light management tools, but it is not a full-featured enterprise switch: advanced L2/L3 features are limited compared with higher-end models. The device is plug-and-play for basic use, with extra controls available if you wish to segment traffic or prioritize streams.
Support and Warranty
TP-Link ships this unit with a limited lifetime warranty and access to technical support channels. Replacement and support policies vary by region; check the included documentation for details on contacting support.
Pros
- Four 802.3af PoE ports with up to 15.4W per port (57W total)
- Fanless metal enclosure with wall-mount capability
- Simple web-based management with VLAN, QoS, and IGMP snooping
Cons
- Default management IP may conflict with common home routers
- Feature set is lighter than full managed switches
- PoE budget limits powering many high-draw devices simultaneously
VerdictA compact, fanless 8‑port gigabit switch that adds basic managed features and PoE to small networks. It’s simple to set up, offers VLAN and QoS controls, and supplies power to a few access points or cameras — a practical choice for home and small office use where full enterprise management is not required.

Solid unit, easy to manage
Worked straight away and was simple to administer. Note: inspect serials for warranty — my box and unit IDs differed and a firmware update risked bricking the device.

Great when managed by central controller
Integrates well into an orchestrated network, but also works plug-and-play. VLANs let you separate admin, IoT, guest and camera traffic. The P version supplies PoE for powered devices.

Reliable PoE swap-in for older gear
Replaced a smaller non‑PoE switch to power VoIP phones. Metal case, compact footprint, wall-mounted neatly. It’s a lightly managed switch with VLAN and QoS options and all ports are gigabit and stable.

Exceeded expectations after setup
Had doubts from other comments but after configuration it worked flawlessly. Wired speeds improved once I addressed cabling and used appropriate Cat cables.

Quiet, sturdy, and easy to use
Solid metal build and silent operation. Plug-and-play was effortless, and QoS, VLAN and IGMP support improved network management. It has powered my PoE devices reliably so far.

Handyman/sysadmin — got the job done
As a system admin doing basement wiring, this handled two APs and a camera via PoE and left extra gigabit ports for other gear. I didn’t need the smart features yet, but setup was straightforward and ports behaved as expected.

Managed switch with strong value
Good managed feature set for the money and dependable operation.

Enterprise-style features for a small setup
Used to feed enterprise APs in a large house; VLANs and port assignment worked well and installation was painless. It has run continuously for months without trouble. Mounting hardware could be a bit sturdier.

Easy to install and prompt delivery
Installation was straightforward, it arrived early, and the overall purchasing experience was smooth.

Good for home use, one annoying default
Installed in a closet behind my router and delivered gigabit speeds quietly. Wall-mount and cable tests are handy. Lost a star because the default IP overlaps many consumer routers, which made initial access awkward.
