Product description
What’s included: one throwable flotation cushion designed for use on recreational and commercial vessels. The unit is USCG Type IV approved for boats over 16 feet and is intended as a throwable emergency buoyant device and secondary seating pad.
Construction and materials: the exterior uses 200D Polyester Oxford for abrasion and weather resistance. The carry/grab strap is made of polypropylene webbing for a secure grip. Internal buoyancy comes from EPE foam (7 mm) arranged in a multi-layer design (10 layers) to provide reliable flotation and structural thickness.
How it’s used: this cushion functions as a throw-to-rescue device and as an extra seat pad on aluminum and fiberglass boats, kayaks, canoes, pontoons and fishing craft. It’s also useful around docks, swimming areas, water camps and as an emergency supply for households in coastal regions or for anglers.
Sizing and feel: sized to fit most boat seats and to be easily tossed to someone in the water, it’s lightweight yet substantial. The polyester cover resists moisture while the foam provides firm buoyancy and comfortable support when sitting.
Care and warnings: the cover resists marine conditions but should be rinsed with fresh water after heavy salt exposure. This is a throwable life-saving aid only and is not a substitute for Type I, II, or III wearable life jackets.
Pros
- USCG Type IV certified for boats over 16 ft
- Dual-purpose as throwable device and seat cushion
- Durable 200D polyester shell with buoyant EPE foam
Cons
- Not a wearable personal flotation device
- Firmer than typical seat cushions
- Single cushion—doesn’t replace full PFD requirements
VerdictA sturdy, Coast Guard–approved Type IV throwable cushion that serves as both emergency flotation and a comfortable boat seat pad. Durable materials and buoyant foam make it a reliable onboard extra; remember it’s a throwable aid only, not a wearable life jacket.

Durable, neat-fitting throwable pad
Very solid throw cushion with firm foam and tidy fitted corners. Straps feel tough and it appears durable enough to toss to someone in the water. Replacing our old pad with this one.
