This Nova American mahjong set supplies a complete, full-size game kit intended for up to four players. The package contains 166 tiles: 36 dots, 36 bamboos, 36 characters, 12 dragons, 16 winds, 16 flowers, 10 jokers, and 4 blank spare tiles. Also included are three large dice, 100 money chips, clear instructions, and four all-in-one tile racks with sliding lids.

Tiles are molded from dense melamine for a solid, slightly weighted feel and resistance to scratching. Characters and suits are printed in distinct red, green, and black tones for easy recognition during play.     I bring this set everywhere. The bars keep tiles in place and the numbered faces help non-Chinese players follow along. Tiles are a bit small but still usable.

    Fun, dependable set

    Tiles play nicely. The bag feels inexpensive compared with the tiles, but the game pieces themselves are solid. Includes two flower sets which I assume are for variant play.

    Worth waiting for

    Delivery was slower than expected but the set impressed. Quilted tote with long woven handles, wipeable interior, and a zip pocket holding rules, dice, wind dial, extra tiles and plastic chips. Tiles come wrapped and in reusable cases; there's room for a mat and the pusher bars are included.

    Roomy blue tote and classic tiles

    I received the blue version and love the pattern. The bag fits extra items and feels well made. Tiles are melamine and more durable than cheaper plastics; some protective film clung to a few pieces and took effort to remove. Pushers are standard plastic.
