Product description
Marine Snow Plankton Diet is supplied in a 500 ml ready-to-use bottle and is intended to reproduce the biogenic suspended matter often referred to as "marine snow." The formulation contains several phytoplankton species, microscopic zooplankton, dried seaweed meal and additional organic components that together simulate the small particles and dissolved matter found in natural seawater.
Designed for animals that feed from the water column, this suspended plankton mix offers a natural feeding medium for corals, feather dusters, fan worms, filter feeders and the small meiofauna that sustain reef ecosystems. It helps maintain activity in the water column and provides a diverse array of nutrients beyond single-source feeds.
To use, shake the bottle thoroughly and introduce the product into a strong current so it disperses and remains suspended. For spot feeding, dose several times a day as needed; for steady supplementation, deliver the product continuously with a drip-feeding arrangement or a peristaltic dosing pump. Rapid circulation encourages fine particle distribution and natural feeding behaviors.
Packaging and provenance: the formula comes from a specialist reef brand founded by a well-known reef author and hobbyist, and is produced with reef-keeping needs in mind. The concentrate is intended to be part of a varied feeding program rather than a sole diet, complementing frozen and other prepared feeds to broaden nutritional input for captive corals and invertebrates.
Pros
- Mimics natural marine snow with mixed plankton composition
- Stays suspended when added into strong flow for filter feeders
- Can be dosed manually or with continuous drip/peristaltic systems
Cons
- Requires thorough shaking prior to use
- Needs careful dosing to avoid water quality issues
- Perishable — best stored as directed for longevity
VerdictA ready-to-use plankton concentrate formulated to mimic the particulate organic matter in ocean water, supporting suspension feeders, corals and microfauna in home reef systems. The product mixes phytoplankton and zooplankton strains with seaweed meal and other suspended components to create a nutritious, water-column food source. It disperses quickly when added to active flow and can be used inte

A reef keeper’s staple with a few handling notes
After a few years in the hobby I added this to my routine and my corals and an anemone improved noticeably. Important tips: keep chilled in the fridge, shake thoroughly before use, and turn off mechanical filtration or skimming briefly so you don’t remove it immediately. I fed weekly combined with frozen foods; more frequent feedings gave the corals more color but raised phosphates.

Excellent for keeping the water column active
This plankton mix keeps particles suspended so my filter-feeders and corals can graze. It has a viscous texture, so I dose it directly into a powerhead stream so it gets broken into tiny pieces. When I feed, the whole tank livens up — fish, corals and even my brittle star show interest. I always include this product in my feeding rotation.

Improved coloration when combined with other feeds
I alternate this with other food types to provide variety. My corals show deeper colors since adding it, though I also use other supplements. Refrigeration helps with drip counting and avoids overfeeding.
