Product description
What you receive: Two live, active land hermit crabs and three additional empty shells. The crabs are small to medium in size, reaching up to about 1.5 inches, and the extra shells are natural specimens that have been cleaned and polished for immediate use.
Materials and extras: The package includes three premium-quality empty shells suitable for future molts and growth. A printed care guide is supplied with the crabs to help you set up a proper habitat and transition them into your home. For transit the animals are typically secured with packing material and a moisture source to limit stress.
Care and habitat: These hermit crabs are low-maintenance compared with many pets, but they still need a proper environment to thrive: a substrate they can burrow in, access to fresh and salt water, humidity, hiding spots, and additional shells for swapping. They are social, active at night, and make engaging classroom or family pets when housed correctly.
Shipping and arrival: The seller has more than 15 years of experience shipping pet crabs and offers a live-arrival guarantee when conditions allow. Because these are live animals sensitive to temperature extremes, do not place an order if local conditions are below 40°F or above 85°F; orders placed during those conditions will nullify the arrival guarantee. Buyers are responsible for confirming local temperatures at the time of purchase to ensure safe delivery.
Pros
- Comes with three cleaned, polished natural shells
- Includes care instructions for a smooth setup
- Good educational, low-maintenance pets
Cons
- Very temperature-sensitive during shipping (40–85°F)
- Small, young crabs can be fragile
- Requires immediate habitat preparation on arrival
VerdictThese young land hermit crabs arrive with three extra natural shells and a care guide, making them a convenient, educational pet for beginners. They are small and generally easy to care for, but buyers should be aware that shipping is temperature-sensitive and the animals can be fragile during transit. Prepare a suitable habitat before arrival to give them the best start.

Gorgeous Shells — Watch the Heat
Both crabs were beautiful and arrived alive with stunning shells. My only complaint is they were left in a mailbox during 100-degree heat. For live shipments I’d appreciate an arrival notification to prevent animals sitting in extreme temperatures.

Tiny but Settling In
They arrived with a shipping sponge and the packaging seemed fine. They’re very small, but already resting and exploring the sand in their tank.

Packaging Condition Shown
Shared a photo of how the boxes arrived. Fortunately the hermit crabs inside were unharmed and okay.

Terrible Delivery, But Crabs Survived
Carrier tracking was a mess and delivery was delayed, but when I checked the mailbox the two crabs were alive and active. They were packed with shredded paper and a moisture-soaked sponge which helped. I had feared cold exposure during transit, yet they were kicking when I opened the container.

Initially Active, Loss After a Week
They arrived alive after about five days. Packaging had shredded paper and a dry sponge; lids had shells taped on top. Sizes were decent compared to store-bought ones we got before. I put them in treated water and their new enclosure where they buried and relaxed, but sadly one died a week later and my daughter was very upset. I’d suggest the seller mark packages as live animals so carriers handle them more carefully.

Fragile and Short-Lived for Us
We added these two to our established crabitat hoping they’d thrive, but although they arrived alive they died within a week. They were extremely small—dime-sized including the shell—and stayed inactive until they passed despite proper temperature and humidity in their enclosure.

Think Carefully Before Buying This Way
I don’t recommend shipping hermit crabs unless you know how to care for stressed, delicate animals. Mine lost limbs and died after arrival. If possible, rescue local crabs or research thoroughly. Hermit crabs are social—get more than one and provide a roomy tank (10+ gallons for a pair) and proper substrate and humidity.
