Leupold’s GX-5C pairs an advanced infrared laser with the Digitally eNhanced Accuracy (DNA) engine to deliver rapid ranging results displayed to the nearest tenth of a yard. Core features include Flag Lock, which isolates the flag from foreground and background clutter; PinHunter 3 pulse technology to reduce spurious readings from trees or brush; True Golf Range (TGR) slope-adjusted yardages; and a continuous Scan mode for streaming distances. The unit also provides audible Prism Lock feedback when the laser confirms the target.
The GX-5C offers Club Selector capabilities that estimate which club to use based on your personal carry distances, current slope and environmental factors; these assistance functions can be turned off to comply with tournament regulations. Ranging performance is rated to long distances with reported accuracy around ±1 yard out to several hundred yards, and readings update quickly thanks to the high-speed ranging engine.
Included in the package are the rangefinder, a protective carrying case, a CR2 battery, a wrist strap and an instruction manual. The housing features a rubberized, weather-resistant exterior with multi-coated optics for improved light transmission. The unit is compact and pocketable — measuring roughly 4.3 x 2.8 x 1.6 inches and weighing in the neighborhood of six ounces — making it easy to carry on the course. Operation is straightforward: aim at the target, press the measurement button for instant yardage, use Scan mode for continuous reads, and rely on Flag Lock and audible confirmation to ensure you’ve locked onto the pin.

Loyal to the brand
This is my second Leupold — the first lasted over 20 years and still functions. I left that one with clubs down in South Carolina. The new GX-5C is excellent; they consistently produce quality optics.
