Product description
This CO2 drop checker arrives as a complete kit designed for planted aquariums. Inside the package you’ll find a single glass drop checker made of laboratory-grade borosilicate glass, a 15 mL bottle of pre-mixed 4dKH indicator solution, two rubber suction cups for mounting and a small pipette for easy filling.
No mixing or calibration is required out of the box: the indicator liquid is premixed to a 4dKH standard and is ready to use. To operate, fill the bulb of the checker roughly two-thirds full with the indicator using the pipette, attach a suction cup and place the glass unit on the aquarium wall in a location near CO2 dispersion but away from strong surface turbulence.
Readings are visual and easy to interpret. When the solution appears green, dissolved CO2 is at the target concentration for most planted tanks. A blue tint indicates CO2 is below the desired level; a yellow tint signals CO2 is elevated and corrective action may be needed. These color changes typically become apparent within hours of a CO2 change in the water.
The borosilicate glass body offers strength and clarity compared with ordinary glass, and the included suction cups make mounting straightforward. Keep in mind that rubber suction cups can lose grip over time and the 15 mL indicator will eventually require replacement or topping up depending on usage frequency.
Pros
- Pre-mixed 4dKH indicator for immediate use
- Durable borosilicate glass construction
- Compact kit includes solution, suction cups and pipette
Cons
- Suction cups may weaken with age
- Indicator is calibrated to 4dKH only
- Small 15 mL bottle needs periodic replacement
VerdictA straightforward CO2 monitoring solution for planted aquaria: simple to install, easy to read and built from laboratory-grade borosilicate glass. The pre-mixed 4dKH indicator removes guesswork and the compact design fits nano and larger tanks alike. Suction cups can be finicky over long-term use, and the small solution bottle will eventually need replacing, but overall this kit delivers reliable,

Does the job reliably
Simple device that performs as intended. Build feels solid and the suction cup grips very tightly—I once had trouble removing it. Expect rubber cups to wear over time.

Suction issue fixed easily
Initially the suction cup didn’t hold and I found the unit at the tank bottom. Soaking the cup in hot water before reinstalling solved the problem and it has stayed put since.
