Product description
Hub requirement and compatibility: The timer is sold to work with a Meross wireless hub. If you already own a compatible Meross hub, there is an option to use the timer without a new hub. Note the MSH400 hub supports HomeKit voice and remote control when its firmware is v4.5.35 or newer; the MSH450 hub requires firmware v9.1.17 or later and does not provide HomeKit support. The device only joins 2.4GHz Wi‑Fi networks.
Power compartment and batteries: The enclosure for the power cells is designed to be watertight, so the battery lid is firmly secured. To open it, gently pry both sides evenly with a screwdriver to avoid cracking the cover. Observe correct polarity when inserting the cells. The unit uses standard replaceable batteries (users report a four‑cell arrangement) and the companion app displays remaining battery percentage and can alert you when levels drop.
Build and included items: The unit features brass inlet and outlet fittings for improved corrosion resistance and a longer service life compared with typical plastic‑fitted timers. The package includes the outdoor timer module and the hub (when ordered as a kit); typical accessories reported by owners include a small roll of plumber's tape. The timer is designed for outdoor use and has a sealed power area to achieve a weather‑resistant rating.
Scheduling and operation: Scheduling is highly customizable — you can set specific start times, durations from 1 minute up to 11 hours 59 minutes, and choose days of the week (Mon–Sun). The controller also supports sunrise/sunset‑based starts. A weather‑aware skip feature uses local weather data to automatically suspend watering before, during, and after precipitation, or in freezing/windy conditions, helping prevent overwatering.
Monitoring and smart control: The Meross app reports estimated water usage and provides notifications for issues with the unit or the watering session. The timer integrates with popular voice platforms (Alexa and Google Assistant) for hands‑free control; HomeKit support depends on hub model and firmware as noted above. Remote on/off control, schedule edits, and usage history are available through the app.
Pros
- Durable brass inlet and outlet resist corrosion
- Weather‑aware skip avoids watering during rain or freeze
- App shows water usage and sends status alerts
Cons
- Requires a compatible hub and specific firmware for HomeKit
- Only connects to 2.4GHz Wi‑Fi networks
- Battery compartment lid is tightly sealed and tricky to open
VerdictThis sprinkler controller pairs sturdy brass fittings with smartphone scheduling and weather‑aware skip features. Setup is straightforward for most users, and the app offers usage reports and alerts. Expect to use a 2.4GHz Wi‑Fi network, update hub/valve firmware for full functionality, and handle a tightly sealed battery compartment carefully. Easy to use
Reliable and handy for two years.

Does exactly what it should
I’m into the second year of use. Scheduling works well, it skips watering when it rains, and I can toggle the valve from my phone.

Simple setup and responsive support
Connecting to my Wi‑Fi and creating schedules was easy. When the battery cover wings broke I contacted support and they shipped a replacement within a week. The whole service experience removed what could have been a headache.

Leaked once but support replaced it — impressed
Initially I had a unit that leaked into the battery area and failed after about ten months. I didn’t expect contact, but Meross reached out, asked for details, and sent a replacement without my asking. I upgraded my one‑star to five because of that service. Note: range and obstacles affect connectivity.

HomeKit issues with AT&T fiber
If you run AT&T fiber and need HomeKit, this setup may fail. I struggled splitting the 2.4GHz band and the hub still wouldn’t connect to the app. It wasted a lot of time and there’s no US phone line for customer service.

Fast replacement from customer service
My original device had a problem but support (Lydia) was responsive and sent a prompt replacement. The only minor gripe is the two‑year warranty doesn’t restart with the new unit, but the support itself was excellent.

Easy install, works with Alexa and Siri
Installation was quick and voice control via Alexa and Siri works well. You can set a maximum run time so voice commands stop automatically. The hub needs decent home Wi‑Fi and the outdoor valve must be within range, but I liked it enough to buy a second one.

Limited to a single start per day natively
Installation followed the guide and was straightforward, but the native controller only allows one daily start. I need multiple short cycles for seed germination, so I’m trying to create Alexa routines to work around that limit.

HomeKit capable with solid support
These sprinklers integrate well with HomeKit and other smart platforms. I manage multiple devices across a large, varied landscape and they perform reliably. Support resolved an issue quickly — highly recommended.

Attractive, reliable, and simple to run
This timer looks good and has been more stable than my old model. The manual is clear and the app is straightforward. It’s larger than the previous unit but that’s fine outdoors.

Brass build, quick pairing, no leaks
I already use Meross gear, so adding this water timer was painless. Once the hub was active the valve paired in minutes and the app guided me through firmware updates. The brass fittings feel solid compared with the usual plastic connectors and I expect them to hold up through seasons. The valve closes reliably with no leaks.

Sturdy, leak‑free, reliable scheduling
I’ve been using it on a garden sprinkler for a week and it’s held up through heavy rain with zero leaks; the brass fittings sealed tightly and it included a small plumber’s tape roll. I run three daily five‑minute programs and they execute perfectly. The app estimates water use, lets you calibrate flow, supports sunrise/sunset timing, and shows battery percentage with alerts.

Weather skip is accurate — setup tips inside
Be careful opening the battery lid: lift both sides evenly or you risk cracking it. Setup requires a 2.4GHz Wi‑Fi; my dual‑band network stalled the wizard until I disabled the 5GHz band. Pairing with the hub is smooth after that. Battery life is still to be determined. Reporting and water logs in the app are very thorough.
