I'm From Mugwort Essence — Soothing Vegan Mugwort Skin Essence

Product description

Product overview:
This essence is built around a concentrated mugwort extract as its primary botanical ingredient. The formula emphasizes simplicity — a plant-derived solution without heavy additives, created to target irritation, redness, and moisture imbalance.

Materials and packaging:
The essence is presented in a pourable dispenser bottle designed for easy application. The core material is mugwort extract, combined with a lightweight watery base that allows rapid absorption. The brand markets this product as vegan and cruelty-free and avoids unnecessary fragrances and harsh additives.

Texture and how to use:
The liquid consistency is very fluid and absorbs quickly, leaving a non-greasy finish. Apply a small amount into the palms and press or pat across face, neck, décolletage, or any irritated areas. It can be used in place of a toner, layered after toner before serums, or repeated in multiple layers for extra hydration. Many users also find it useful on the scalp and other dry patches where gentle calming is needed.

Routine tips:
Ideal for morning and evening routines, it pairs well with hydrating serums and creams. Because it’s lightweight, it blends smoothly under heavier treatments and works with multi-step methods like layering several light essences or the more traditional toner-essence-serum order.

Pros

  • Calms redness and sensitive skin effectively
  • Very lightweight, fast-absorbing, non-sticky finish
  • Minimal, vegan and cruelty-free formulation

Cons

  • Very liquid consistency can be tricky to dispense
  • Some users report changes after reformulation
  • Almost fragrance-free — those who like scented products may dislike it

VerdictThis mugwort essence is a versatile, minimalist hydrator that calms redness, supports a balanced skin barrier, and absorbs like water. Suitable for sensitive, dry, combination, and acne-prone skin, it can replace or sit alongside a toner and is gentle enough for face, neck, chest and even scalp applications.

    Miss the original formula

This used to be a staple, but the new formulation doesn't feel as soothing as the original. I wish they would bring back the older version.

  2. Omaima 5/5

    Perfect — I love it

What can I say — I love it!

  3. Nadi 5/5

    Soothes acne and sunburn

I've been using it a month and it has calmed acne and soothed sunburned skin. I enjoy the fresh mugwort scent—it's calming.

  4. Brandi Rhoden 5/5

My go-to for dry, reactive skin

For dry, sensitive skin this essence is a lifesaver. I noticed when I paused using it that my skin became more reactive, so I bought a new bottle immediately. It has a subtle herbal scent that fades fast, feels like water on the skin, and restores balance. I like layering it with a light PDRN essence and a thicker milky hydrator for best results.

  5. destiny zuluaga 5/5

    Leaves skin smooth and dewy

This changed my routine — skin feels super smooth and luminous. Definitely a product I'll be purchasing again.

  6. H&J 5/5

    Soothing for rosacea-prone skin

I follow the 'skin flooding' approach and, being sensitive with rosacea, this keeps me hydrated and helps prevent blemishes. A solid toner-like essence I use to keep my 45+ skin looking refreshed.

  7. Maw Maw Aung 5/5

    Great for oily, acne-prone skin

Very suitable for acne-prone skin — it helped calm my breakouts.

  8. cj 4/5

Effective for dry, sensitive skin despite packaging changes

Works well for my dry, sensitive skin. The brand updated the container and reduced the volume compared to older versions that were glass, but the essence still does the job.

  9. PT 5/5

    Calming and reduces redness

I've gone through many bottles of this essence. It calms inflammation and has noticeably reduced my redness and breakouts. I use it morning and night after toner and my skin drinks it up. Mugwort's healing qualities seem to help acne and scarring, making this a very versatile step for many skin types.

    Hydrated, non-greasy finish

I really like these products. This essence never felt oily; it left my skin hydrated, glowing, and soft. No noticeable fragrance at all.

  11. Cianna Clark 5/5

    Hydrating without breakouts

On my combination/oily skin this is soothing and moisturizing without causing breakouts. It calms redness and helped repair my skin barrier.

  12. Htet Htet Zaw 4/5

    Good for acne and scars

Works well on pimples and acne marks. A solid essence.

  13. Mary Rae Fouts 5/5

Fantastic for mature, dry, sensitive skin

I've used the Mugwort line for years and my skin responds well. At 60 with dry, reactive skin I started using this essence to alternate with toner. I pour a little into my palm and pat it across face, neck, chest and even my scalp. It sinks in quickly — don't squeeze the bottle or it pours fast. It works as a toner substitute or layered with one, and it's done wonders for my scalp and hair areas too.
