Product description
This is a hardwire combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarm that includes the alarm head, a Quick Connect plug for wiring, and a battery backup to maintain protection during power outages. The unit uses First Alert’s Precision Detection sensing logic to reduce nuisance triggers from cooking while still meeting the updated industry standards for early fire detection.
The enclosure is molded from durable fire-resistant plastic with a compact round profile designed to fit standard electrical boxes and existing mounting brackets, so it generally drops into place without needing to alter ceiling or wall cutouts. The Quick Connect harness contains power, ground and an orange interconnect wire for linking multiple compatible alarms so that when one device detects an emergency, all interconnected units will sound.
Installation is intended to be simple: shut off power at the breaker, plug the Quick Connect into the house wiring, attach the alarm to the mounting base and restore power. During setup you can assign the device a location announcement (bedroom, hallway, kitchen, etc.) so the unit will speak the zone during an alarm. The unit is rated to operate as both a smoke detector and a carbon monoxide sensor and is sized to replace most existing hardwired combo alarms without additional modification.
Pros
- Voice and location alerts for faster recognition
- Quick Connect plug for easy replacement installation
- Battery backup keeps protection during outages
Cons
- Very loud — can be jarring during tests or false alarms
- Some users report false alarms or sensor failures over time
- White plastic may yellow with long-term exposure to light
VerdictThis hardwired combo alarm offers clear voice and location warnings, battery backup, and quick-connect wiring for straightforward replacement of existing units. It’s loud by design and links with compatible devices for whole-home alerts. Some users report false alarms and occasional sensor failures over time, so long-term reliability varies.

Everything working after full replacement
Swapped out all my old detectors for these. Quiet and stable during normal operation — no intermittent beeps and everything functions as expected.

Linked up with older model perfectly
Installed without removing the old bracket — it connected to my older alarm and worked right away. A touch pricey but a fast, effective replacement that communicated with legacy units.

Fits existing wiring, batteries included
Bought to replace expired combo alarms. They dropped into my existing wired bases and worked immediately after plugging in. Backup batteries were preinstalled, so no extra purchase required.

Warning: false alarm nightmare
Installed less than a month and got a full-house false alarm at 1 AM. Every interconnected unit sounded and left my ears ringing. It wasn’t due to cooking or dust; very upsetting and hard to tolerate so soon after installation.

Easy install but loud and quirky menu
Connected to house wiring easily and the alarms interconnect reliably. The setup menu only cycles once, so if you miss assigning a location you must redo the install. Extremely loud; cover the speaker or wear ear protection during tests. No false triggers so far.

Solid dual smoke and CO unit
Replaced two old detectors and liked these so much I ordered two more. This unit combines smoke and carbon monoxide detection. It is extremely loud by design — that’s the point — so expect it to be jarring when testing. When configuring, test alone in a closet or use ear protection. Note the wiring harness includes an orange interconnect lead for hookup.

Easy setup; loud and functional
Installation was simple using the provided plugs. They’re very loud, so you won’t miss an alarm. I like that you can set a location name during setup and that they accept AA cells instead of 9V. They connected to most but not all other units during testing.

Disappointed — failures and false alarms
After about 18 months two of six units showed sensor failure and caused multiple false alarms. The siren is painfully loud and, because they’re interconnected, all units blare while you hunt down the flashing faulty device. The silence button didn’t reliably stop every unit.
