Evoluent VM4S Vertical Ergonomic Mouse (Right-Hand, Wired, Small)

Product description

What’s included and intended use
The VM4S package provides the right-handed, small-sized wired vertical mouse and access to the Evoluent Mouse Manager software for button customization and driver options. A user guide and warranty information are supplied to help set up and tailor the device.
Construction and feel
The mouse is formed from molded plastic with contoured shaping to cradle the palm in an upright, neutral posture. A pronounced lower lip supports the hand during extended use and the textured thumb area gives a secure resting point for navigation and extra-button access.
Buttons, speeds, and operation
It offers six programmable buttons plus a scroll wheel, and pointer speed can be changed across four settings using controls on the side so you don’t need to release your grip to adjust sensitivity. The Evoluent Mouse Manager lets you remap buttons and apply different profiles for software tasks or games.
Size and handedness
This model is the small (S) size, sculpted specifically for right-hand users and recommended for those with smaller hands who need a compact ergonomic option.
Connection and compatibility
A wired USB connection delivers consistent signal and power. The VM4S is compatible with Microsoft Windows, macOS, and many Linux distributions, making it suitable for office, creative, and gaming environments.
Care and setup notes
Set the pointer speed to a comfortable level and spend a few days adapting to the upright grip. Installing the Evoluent Mouse Manager unlocks full programmability for tailored workflows.

Pros

  • Supports a neutral, handshake-style wrist position
  • Six remappable buttons with downloadable manager
  • Four on-the-fly pointer speed settings

Cons

  • Designed only for right-handed users
  • Small size may not suit larger hands
  • Wired only—no wireless option

VerdictThe VM4S brings a sculpted, right-handed option for users who need a compact vertical mouse to reduce wrist and thumb tension. Its wired USB link delivers steady responsiveness, while the side controls let you toggle through four pointer speeds without letting go. The Evoluent Mouse Manager enables button remapping for workflows or games, and the wide lower lip improves support during long session

Comfortable — reduces hand and wrist pain

I really like this mouse; it has eased the uncomfortable pain I used to get in my hands and wrists. The vertical form factor makes a clear difference.

Wrist pain largely gone after an adjustment period

After seven months I updated my thoughts: initial sensitivity quirks were a Windows setting issue, but the fit is excellent for my small hands. My wrist pain has nearly disappeared. The thumb button placement can be awkward and the cost feels high, but in terms of comfort and pain relief I’m very satisfied.

Helpful layout for carpal tunnel sufferers

I have carpal tunnel and found this mouse immediately comfortable. I like that you can map handy shortcuts like copy/paste and back, and that it's wired so there’s no lag. After one day I could already tell it would be a keeper for ergonomic comfort.

Comfortable for smaller hands, quick to re-adapt

Recommended to me when I injured my shoulder and needed a different desk setup. After a few days of readjustment the small model fit well and felt very comfortable. My glove size is around 7.5 and the small version gave me better control and a pleasant thumb rest. I prefer the smaller unit when possible.

Tendonitis relief after switching from a problematic trackball

My previous trackball started failing and I was wary of other ergonomic options until I tried this. My right-hand tendonitis improved after adopting the vertical layout. I’d tried moving trackball use to my left hand, but this mouse let me work comfortably with my dominant hand again. It’s pricier than some alternatives, but the design and reassuring reviews convinced me. The programmable buttons and upright position have made a real difference in daily comfort.

    Solved my carpal tunnel discomfort

I bought a second unit for my spouse and this is my go-to mouse. As a programmer who clicks a lot, repetitive motion had inflamed my wrist. Using this mouse reduced the clicking stress and after regular use my carpal tunnel symptoms resolved. I still keep using it because other mice tend to aggravate my wrist. I’ve tried many so-called ergonomic designs and this one was the only one that let my wrist heal.

Strong option for long CG or design sessions

This mouse bridges classic three-button drafting mice and modern optical designs, but tilted to reduce wrist strain. Professionals who work long hours in CG or 3D will appreciate the dedicated middle button and the way the sideways tilt stabilizes the wrist. The small model improves on earlier versions with refined buttons and a more polished feel for extended, intensive work.

Arthritis eased by adopting a vertical grip

I have hand arthritis and spend long hours gaming and at the computer. When swelling and pain flared up, switching to this vertical mouse reduced the strain my previous mouse caused. The altered hand position stopped aggravating my knuckles and allowed me to continue working and gaming with far less discomfort. After adapting to the shape, it became much easier to use for extended sessions.

A year in and it still helps my aching thumb

I’ve used this mouse daily for about a year and wanted to share my long-term experience. I bought it because a constant ache in my thumb area developed from hours at the computer, both at work and gaming. After switching to this vertical shape recommended by a friend, the discomfort diminished noticeably. The upright grip changes how the thumb and palm are loaded, and the fit for smaller hands felt natural. If you’re dealing with repetitive strain from heavy mouse use, give it time to adjust and it may help.

Good concept but too large and limited button mapping

I used it for a week and found the movement smooth and the tilt helpful for a more neutral arm position. However, despite using the manufacturer’s sizing guide, the small model still felt too big for my hands and I had to grip awkwardly. The thumb buttons are spaced oddly so you mainly use one, and the scroll wheel lacks a free-spin mode which makes long scrolling slow. Some customization is possible but not everything can be changed to my liking.
