Jurassic World Dilophosaurus Spitter Goo Tutorial for Kids

Continuing our excitement for the Jurassic World movie release, we created a new hands-on craft: Jurassic World Inspired Dilophosaurus Spitter Goo. This bright green, ooey-gooey slime is simple to make and a big hit with kids—perfect for imaginative play and dinosaur-themed fun.

Dilophosaurus Spitter GooIf you’re a dinosaur enthusiast, you may know that scientists aren’t certain Dilophosaurus actually spit venom. For the purposes of Jurassic Park lore and this craft, we’re embracing that dramatic idea and making some spitter goo for playtime!

Warning: this activity can get messy. If you’re concerned about cleanup, take the project outside or prepare a washable workspace so kids can fully enjoy the sensory experience.

Supplies Needed to Make Jurassic World Inspired Dilophosaurus Spitter Goo:

  • 2 teaspoons borax
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 bottle clear Elmer’s glue
  • 15 drops green food coloring
  • 2–3 drops lemon essential oil (optional, for scent)
  • 2 mixing bowls
  • mixing spoon

  1. In a small bowl, combine 1 cup of water and 2 teaspoons of borax. Stir until evenly distributed—the borax may not fully dissolve, and that’s fine. Set this mixture aside.dilophosaurus spitter goo inprocess1
  2. In a second bowl, pour in the entire bottle of clear glue and add 1/2 cup of water. Stir until smooth and combined.dilophosaurus spitter goo inprocess2
  3. Add about 15 drops of green food coloring to the glue mixture and stir until the color is even. Adjust the number of drops to reach your desired shade of green.
  4. If you like, add 2–3 drops of lemon essential oil or another scent to make the goo smell pleasant. This step is optional.dilophosaurus spitter goo inprocess3
  5. Slowly pour the borax mixture from the first bowl into the center of the glue mixture while stirring. You’ll see the mixture begin to thicken and form slime almost immediately.dilophosaurus spitter goo inprocess4
  6. Once most of the liquid is integrated, use your hands to knead and squeeze the goo until it becomes firmer and less sticky. Form it into a ball and pour away any excess liquid into the sink.
  7. Let the goo rest for about 10 minutes to fully set. When playtime is over, store the slime in an airtight container such as a mason jar or a resealable plastic bag to keep it fresh for next time.
