Product description
Construction and materials
The tarp is cut from 210D rip-stop Oxford fabric and treated with a PU 3000mm waterproof coating to block heavy rain. The interior carries a silver PU layer that helps reflect sunlight and offers UV protection. All primary stress points use a triangular, dual-layer reinforcement and every corner and edge features double-reinforced stitching to minimize tearing and leaking under load.
Hardware and attachments
There are eight dedicated tie-out points positioned around the perimeter and mid-sides to allow multiple pitch options. The package includes six aluminum stakes and six guy lines for setup flexibility; the included lines have plastic tensioners to simplify adjustments. The tarp can be rigged as a ridgeline shelter, lean-to, groundsheet or shade canopy, and the durable tie-outs accept carabiners or cord attachments.
Performance and uses
Designed for hammock campers, backpackers and general outdoor adventurers, this tarp provides broad coverage for hammocks and small tents, a sheltered outdoor cooking area, or an emergency shelter. It repels sudden downpours and sheds wind-driven rain while the silver PU interior reduces solar heating underneath. The material is sturdy rather than ultra-lightweight, so it trades minimal bulk for long-term toughness and tear resistance.
Packing and setup
The tarp packs into a carry sack and can be configured in a range of shapes using the supplied stakes and guy lines or your own cords and poles. Setup is straightforward: secure anchor points, tension the lines, and adjust the plastic tensioners to stabilize. While it isn’t the lightest tarp available, it balances coverage and durability for most recreational and multi-day trips.

VerdictThis Unigear rain fly is a rugged, multipurpose tarp that focuses on durability and weather protection rather than ultralight packing. Stayed dry in a downpour
Pattern looked good and it kept me dry during a heavy rainforest storm without failing.

It does the job
Kept my setup completely dry in rain and noticeably cooler in strong sun; gear stayed insulated and cool after long exposure.

Handy and waterproof
Used it for shade, to cover bikes in a storm and as a screen while camping in France. Completely waterproof with many attachment points.

Great starter tarp
Good entry-level tarp with decent material. Could use a few more tie-outs but overall a reliable option for beginners.

Good for jungle conditions
Used in Panama — water repellent and larger than it appears. Tie-downs are handy and it was easy to pitch even at night.

Better than I expected
After a three-day trip with rain it held up well. Plenty of tie-off points, no seam failures when hung with 110 lb paracord and handled wind fine.

Versatile and long-lasting
I own two: one for camping, one for hammocks. Quick to rig and durable after years of use; I upgraded tie-outs to locking carabiners for speed.

Strong, compact and complete
Strong but light, folds down compactly, has corner and mid-side tie-offs, waterproof and UV resistant with cords, pegs and a carry bag.

Thoughtful design and robust
Lightweight yet sturdy with reinforced stitching at tabs and center attachments. Pegs and tie-downs are practical; easy ridge-line setup.

Strong fabric but a couple annoyances
Fabric and long guy lines are excellent and the tensioners are handy. Downsides: hard to stuff into the sack and no center tie-outs for some setups.

Solid construction and useful tie-outs
Material looks well made and the tie-out points are numerous and reinforced. Colors are darker than photos and the underside is silvery; stakes and guy lines feel sturdy. Not yet tested in rain.
