Top Chicago Restaurants for Fast Food Delivery and Pickup

Velvettaco

We love having food delivered. For us, the ideal Friday night is delivery, a bottle of wine, and a movie on the couch. Since many people enjoy takeout as much as we do, here’s a curated list of our favorite places to order delivery in Chicago. These picks are what we typically order and how we place our orders. I usually use third-party delivery services rather than ordering directly from restaurants—Caviar and Postmates are my go-to apps—and in Old Town these restaurants generally arrive in under 35 minutes.

Pizza: Happy Camper / Homeslice

What I order: We usually get Happy Camper, though Homeslice is convenient if you’re in Lincoln Park. My pick is the Tory: roma tomatoes, artichoke hearts, roasted garlic, fresh basil, feta, and olive oil.

What Charles orders: The Ken, with pepperoni, mushrooms, roma tomatoes, red onions, and marinara.

Buck's

Fried Chicken: Buck’s Fried Chicken

What I order: Fried chicken with biscuits and a side of mac and cheese. Simple and satisfying.

Blue Door

Salads: Blue Door Farmstand

What I order: The Kale Caesar is my favorite—even though I’m not a kale fanatic—and the Chicken Cobb Salad is another go-to. Fresh ingredients and good dressings make these stand out.

Indian: Rangoli

What we order: Palak Paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Lamb Vindaloo, always paired with plenty of garlic naan. Note: their spice levels are serious—ask for medium if you usually enjoy spicy food but don’t want it overwhelming.

Noodes in the Pot

Thai: Noodles in the Pot

What I order: Chicken Satay and Pad See Ew with beef are firm favorites.

What Charles orders: He often gets Drunken Noodles and then inevitably takes some of mine—classic behavior.

Siam Rice

Pad Thai: Siam Rice

What I order: When I specifically want Pad Thai, Siam Rice edges out the competition with a more authentic flavor profile.

Velvet Taco

Tacos: Velvet Taco

What I order: Buffalo Chicken and Tikka Masala tacos, always with elotes on the side.

What Charles orders: Bacon Cheeseburger and Fish and Chips tacos—he likes to mix it up.

Chicken Shop

Rotisserie Chicken: Chicken Shop

What we order: Their rotisserie chicken is a favorite, and the mac and cheese ranks among the best in Chicago. Chicken nuggets are excellent, and the avocado and butter lettuce salad with mustard dressing is a refreshing option.

How to order it: Caviar

If you haven’t tried Caviar, I use their mobile app all the time—especially for ordering on the go. It saves past orders, which makes reordering quick and convenient.
