Product description
What’s included: one 10 ft (3 m) roll of silicone seal tape with a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing. The strip measures 3 in (76 mm) across and is 0.08 in (2 mm) thick; the glued portion is about 1.5 in (38 mm) wide. It’s intended to close gaps from 0 to 1.5 in (0–38 mm).
Materials and construction: the seal is molded from flexible, waterproof silicone with high resilience so it compresses and returns to shape. The backing is a strong adhesive designed to adhere to painted wood, metal and many trim surfaces without leaving residue when removed under normal conditions.
How to use: measure the doorway or window opening, trim the strip to the required length with scissors, remove the release liner and press the adhesive backing firmly onto a clean, dry surface. If outdoor or storage temperatures are very low, warm the adhesive with a hair dryer for improved tack before applying. For added security on uneven or high-use thresholds, mechanical fasteners (staples, small screws or trim clips) can be used in combination with the adhesive.
Performance and applications: seals are intended to reduce airflow, dust and insect entry around sliding doors, thresholds, garage doors, shower enclosures, closet doors and utility doors. By reducing drafts they help maintain interior temperature and can lower heating and cooling demand. The silicone’s water resistance suits both interior and sheltered exterior uses.
Pros
- Thick, flexible silicone that blocks drafts
- Strong pressure-sensitive adhesive backing
- Cut-to-fit length works for many openings
Cons
- Red release liner can be difficult to peel
- May need staples or screws on uneven doors
- Adhesive longevity can vary by surface
VerdictThis silicone draft seal delivers substantial thickness and reliable draft-blocking for many door and window situations. Installation is simple—cut to fit and press into place—and the material stands up to moisture and flexing. The release liner can be awkward to remove and some installations benefit from staples or screws for a permanent hold, so anticipate extra fastening for uneven or high-traf

Disappointed — adhesive failed
Glue and material seemed below average on my doors; it peeled away easily and didn’t hold in windy conditions. Not effective for my window gaps.

Useless for my needs
Did not work at all for the gaps I needed to seal.

Great for pavilion gaps at our RV site
At our RV pavilion there was a 1–2 in gap at the base for drainage. This tape sealed that space, kept drafts and bugs out, and made the area feel more enclosed while holding up outdoors.

Surprisingly impressed
I didn’t expect to care about weatherstripping, but this one performs. It’s thick, stops drafts right away, trims easily and the adhesive has held with no problems. Blends in nicely.

Seals out debris and critters
Excellent at keeping dust, leaves and small pests out. I installed it on my garage exterior where the bottom isn’t level and it covered the gaps better than the compressible strip I tried before.

Does the job — secure it
Satisfied overall. The adhesive alone wasn’t enough for my frame, so I added staples for a firm hold. Once fastened it worked well.

Workaround for the stubborn red liner
Material is thick and blocks drafts well. The red release liner is annoying — I sliced it lengthwise a couple inches from the cut, used a razor to lift the center and peeled it off. Once started it came away easily and installation was quick.

Keeps winter drafts away in an old house
In our 126-year-old home with original doors these strips added real thickness and fit cleanly. Cut with sturdy scissors and adhered well after wiping the surface; lasted through the season.

Sticks well but watch the liner
Very thick and adheres strongly. Time will tell on durability. The red liner can be hard to remove—long nails or a tool make it easier.
