Product description
What you get: a 1 ounce bottle of PlanetSafe AiM Bike and Chain Lube with a narrow applicator tip for targeted drops and neat application.
Formula and materials: a biosynthetic, environmentally conscious lubricant designed to bond with metal surfaces. The blend is free of harsh petroleum solvents, marketed as non-toxic and non-hazardous, and manufactured in the United States. It claims to both displace moisture and resist corrosion.
Performance and protection: the oil is formulated to seep into chain links and moving metal parts to loosen old grease and grime, then leave a thin protective film that reduces friction and shields against rust. It’s described as waterproof and intended to cut down on routine maintenance by extending component life.
Compatibility and use: suitable for mountain bikes, road bikes, e-bikes and other small machines with chains, cables or pivot points. Application is straightforward — clean the component, apply a few drops along the chain while rotating, allow time to penetrate, then wipe off any excess to avoid buildup.
Safety and handling: positioned as an eco-friendlier option that’s safe for home use around people and pets when used conventionally. The small bottle and precision tip are designed for neat, controlled dosing so a little goes a long way.
Pros
- Water-resistant protection that reduces corrosion
- Non-toxic, eco-aware formula for household use
- Precision applicator for controlled, low-mess dosing
Cons
- Small 1 oz bottle can be limiting for frequent heavy use
- Formula can pick up dust in very dry, dusty conditions
- Not marketed as a specialty wet-weather heavy-duty lube
VerdictA compact, multipurpose chain lubricant that cleans, seeps into links and leaves a water-resistant film. Its non-toxic, eco-focused formula and precision applicator make it a good everyday option for road, MTB and e-bike chains, though heavier users may find the 1 oz bottle modest in capacity and it can attract more dust in very dry, dusty conditions.

Roseville MTB Dad 4/5
Performs as expected
I usually alternate dry and wet lubes seasonally; this acts more like a wet lube. It stands up better in damp conditions but will pick up extra dust compared with dry lubes. Climate claims don’t sway me — it does what a lube should and gets the job done.

Sweet 5/5
Simple to apply — cleans and lubricates
The 1 oz bottle and narrow tip make application neat and accurate. According to the maker, it’s designed to penetrate chain grime, bond to metal, reduce friction and guard against rust. The routine: clean the chain, apply a few drops, let it soak in, then wipe off excess for best results.

Bingo 5/5
Easy, precise application
The applicator tip is ideal for applying to a chain while you rotate it. It claims to bond to links and resist dirt pickup; I’ll use it through a variety of trails and weather to judge longevity. The small bottle should last a fair while with careful dosing.

EMANITA 5/5
A competent option, though LBS alternatives exist
Used it before and after installing a new groupset; it performed decently through break-in. It’s a practical choice for shoppers who can’t get to a bike shop, though there are other premium lubes available locally that may justify their extra cost.

Robert Strecker 4/5
Good lubricant for home machines and belt systems
I needed a safer oil around the house because my cat is oddly attracted to oil spills. I use lubricants on my treadmill, home gym equipment and an electric scooter, and often get excess on the floor. After switching to this non-toxic formula I worry less about accidental runoffs and felt more comfortable using it around pets and family.

Engineer, Deep Thinker 5/5
Thin, wicking oil for tight pivots
I needed a low-odor, non-toxic oil without solvent fumes for health reasons and a thinner fluid to wick into tight pivots. This one fits — it cleans grime out of bearings while leaving lubrication, and it doesn’t seem to collect dust excessively. A little goes a long way.

Dr. X 5/5
Solid chain oil for regular riding
I’ve used a longtime favorite oil and then tried this after a thorough cleaning. A couple of rides later the drivetrain felt smooth and responsive. I’ll watch how it handles wet winter riding here where we get heavy rain, but initial rides were promising.

TomP 5/5
Effective non-toxic lubricating oil
I switched from another non-petroleum formula to try this one. The composition bonds with metal and seems to lift grime so I can wipe surfaces cleaner. I’ve used it on a couple of bike chains and on vintage cable housings — the speedometer cable in particular ran smoother after treatment.
