Product description
100% NATURAL COCONUT FIBER MATERIAL - This product is made entirely from coconut husk fiber (coir). The material is biodegradable, low in soluble salts, exhibits balanced pH and a low electrical conductivity value, and is suitable for use around reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates and many houseplants.
HIGHLY ABSORBENT AND ODOR-REDUCING - The coir structure soaks up liquids and pet waste quickly, helping minimize lingering smells. The fiber matrix retains moisture while aiding the natural breakdown of organic material, which contributes to a fresher enclosure and better humidity control.
COMPRESSED BRICKS FOR EASY STORAGE - The substrate is supplied as five compact, lightweight bricks that save space and are simple to transport. To use, submerge a brick in water and allow it to expand; stirring with a tool accelerates loosening so the brick fluffs into a soft, soil-like bedding.
SUITABLE FOR PETS AND PLANTS - This coir works well as a terrarium or enclosure substrate for snakes, tortoises, frogs, lizards, tarantulas and other small pets. It creates a cushioned, breathable floor layer. Outside of pet use, it can be mixed into potting soil to improve drainage and water retention for flowers, herbs and vegetables.
PACKAGE CONTENTS AND DIMENSIONS - The pack contains five premium coconut fiber bricks. Each brick measures approximately 8.2 x 4 x 2 inches and weighs about 1.3 lb before expansion. Designed primarily as animal bedding, the expanded coir yields abundant, soft material for bedding or horticultural use.
Pros
- 100% natural and biodegradable
- Strong absorbency and odor control
- Compact, easy-to-expand bricks
Cons
- Arrives very compressed
- Can produce dust while handling
- Not nutrient-rich for plants alone
VerdictA natural, absorbent substrate option that expands from compact bricks into a soft, breathable bedding. It controls moisture and reduces odors, suits a wide range of small pets and can double as a gardening amendment. Expect dense compression on arrival and a bit of dust when handling.

Hygienic, versatile bedding
Natural coconut coir is a sanitary, low-salt choice for reptile and invertebrate enclosures. It's highly absorbent, helps control odor by breaking down waste, and is durable. The compact bricks are easy to store and, when soaked, expand into plenty of bedding. Also handy mixed into potting soil for houseplants and containers.

Good for my mushroom trials
I use this for hobby mycology as a water-retentive medium. After a standard pasteurization it stayed contamination-free in my tests. It can be a bit dusty when handling, but performed reliably and is comparable to other coir brands.
