The holiday inspiration continues with our newest cake series, The 12 Cakes of Christmas. We’re celebrating twelve days of festive cakes designed to inspire your holiday baking and party planning. Twelve talented bakers were invited to create elegant, innovative cakes suitable for Christmas gatherings and winter weddings. Along the way we get a peek at what drives each artist. It’s twelve bakers baking… it’s The 12 Cakes of Christmas.
The eighth cake in the series comes from Sherri Meyers and her team at The Pastry Studio in Daytona Beach, Florida. You may recall Sherri from earlier features on our site, like the pink ruffled cake and the retro candy buttons cake, or last year’s memorable Nutcracker Cake. This year Sherri returns with a gleaming creation: sleek, sophisticated, and lavishly golden. It’s The 8th Cake of Christmas.
Our 12 Cakes of Christmas series isn’t a literal retelling of the twelve days of Christmas—there are no pipers piping or maids a-milking. Still, this design nods to the classic carol: there may be no partridge, but this pear-themed cake captures the spirit with ripe, radiant beauty. Sherri brings holiday glamour to life with shimmering finishes and refined details that feel festive and luxurious.

Raise a glass—this cake feels celebratory. Surrounded by swirls of metallic, grommet-inspired dots, the gold-painted pears stand out, adding a focal point of sophisticated sparkle. The overall effect is polished, modern, and utterly elegant.

Sherri Meyers of The Pastry Studio explains her technique:
“This is our Golden Pear Cake, inspired by a chic formal affair with a Partridge in a Pear Tree theme. We love the simple elegance of the design. The cake is gilded with edible metallic gold and silver paint. The grommet dots are hand-cut and painted using a mix of metallics. The pears have a soft green base, then are finished in gold.”

The metallic sheen is irresistible. Up close, the pears reveal subtle shading and a delicate, luminous finish that elevates the whole design.

Those metallic buttons add texture and movement. At first glance they read like celebratory bubbles; at another they resemble sequins catching the light. They create depth and sparkle without overwhelming the cake’s refined silhouette.

We’re grateful to Sherri Meyers and the team at The Pastry Studio for sharing this stunning golden pear cake. It’s a beautiful example of seasonal style—glamorous, tasteful, and perfect for a holiday centerpiece or a winter wedding.
