Product description
This replacement bottomless portafilter is made for 51mm, three-ear groupheads with an ear thickness of 4.4mm and is advertised as compatible with a range of machines including CASABREWS models (CM5418, 3700Essential, 3700Gense, 3700Pro), Mr. Coffee Espresso and Cappuccino machines, Wirsh units, and other machines using the same 51mm 3-ear interface. Please verify your machine’s grouphead type and ear profile prior to purchase.
The assembly includes a 51mm bottomless portafilter body, a stainless steel 51mm double-shot (two-cup) filter basket and a detachable 100% natural wooden handle. The stainless parts are cast to fit onto three-lobe groupheads and the wooden handle screws on for a comfortable grip and an attractive finish. The detachable design makes disassembly and cleaning straightforward.
The bottomless configuration exposes the basket and allows you to observe the entire extraction so you can spot channeling, uneven distribution, or tamping errors quickly. The supplied fine-hole filter basket is intended to deliver consistent extraction across shots and is listed with up to an 18 g capacity for a two-cup basket; actual usable capacity can vary by grind and puck compression.
Manufactured from food-grade stainless steel with a natural wood handle, the portafilter claims precise casting to hold firmly on compatible machines. To avoid splashback when using a bottomless setup, it’s recommended to distribute and tamp the coffee evenly and to dial in grind size and dose. The overall construction is aimed at improving shot consistency and giving clear visual feedback during adjustments.
Pros
- Durable food-grade stainless construction
- Exposes extraction for easier dialing in
- Comfortable natural wooden handle
Cons
- May not fit machines with tapered ears
- Basket often holds less than the 18 g claim
- Handle placement can make countertop tamping awkward
VerdictWell-made and attractive, this 51mm three-ear bottomless portafilter gives clear visual feedback during extraction and feels solid in hand. It’s constructed from food-grade stainless steel with a removable natural wood handle and ships with a two-cup 51mm basket. Fit is consistent with many Chinese-style 51mm 3-lobe groupheads, but some machines with tapered ears or slight dimensional differences

Good for standard 51mm three-lobe groupheads
Fits common Chinese 51mm 3-lobe machines. The basket holes are uniform and I hit good pressures with normal grind and tamp. The holder is fairly deep so the basket sits recessed, making visual checks harder, and the handle is set low which makes countertop tamping awkward. Solid weight and build for the price.

Won't work for Casabrews 5418 Pro
Beautiful bottomless pieces, but they won't fit the 5418 Pro because that model uses tapered ears. I received two non-tapered units and decided to return both and buy the branded replacement to avoid another mismatch.

High-quality finish but didn't fit
Feels well made and handsome, but it was too loose on my four-cup Mr. Coffee model and failed to seal. Attractive design and overall good value, just incompatible with my unit.

Solid construction; expect some splash initially
Bought for a Casabrews machine and it works well. Be ready to make a mess the first few times with a bottomless portafilter. The handle unscrews—make sure to tighten it.

Stylish and removable handle
I like the upscale look and the screw-off handle. It fits my Casabrew espresso machine and performs reliably.

Sturdy replacement for 51mm machines
Size matched my C Chengvey machine. I replaced the plastic insert that came with the unit and like that this version is bottomless. It arrived with a two-cup filter and functions as a solid replacement.

Lovely wooden handle; basket holds less than advertised
The wooden handle looks fantastic on my beige Casabrews. The supplied basket didn’t take 18 g for me—closer to 14 g—so I bought a precision basket that holds more. With the correct basket, a good WDT tool, and a self-leveling tamp I get great, repeatable shots.

Fits Casabrews 3700 and reveals extraction
This fits my Casabrews 3700 perfectly and is a nice upgrade from the pressurized basket. I was able to dial in beans quickly and the bottomless flow makes troubleshooting easy. Slight channeling early on but overall it works well.
