Uno Casa Double Pie Iron XL — XL Cast Iron Campfire Sandwich & Pie Maker

Product description

This double pie iron set is designed to cook two full sandwiches or pies simultaneously. Each head is the XL size offered by the maker, giving room for generous portions rather than pocket-sized treats. The cooking faces are cast iron and come pre-seasoned so they heat evenly and develop more seasoning with continued use.

The set includes two large cast-iron cooking heads plus two 13.8-inch handles. The handles unscrew into two pieces for easier packing and storage, and they reattach securely when you’re ready to cook at the fire ring. Because the poles detach, you can choose a full length for deep pits or a shorter configuration for stovetop or grill use.

Care is simple: rinse with warm water, dry with a towel, and the seasoning improves with every trip. The package also contains a recipe e-book tailored to pie-iron cooking — classic hobo pies, breakfast ideas and desserts written for these pans so you have dozens of meal options for camp nights.

Materials, dimensions and use notes are clear: cast-iron heads for durability and heat retention, XL cooking surfaces for larger servings, and two-piece 13.8" handles for portability. Ideal for campers who want to feed more than snack-sized portions over open flame.

Pros

  • Large dual cooking heads for two full portions
  • Heavy cast-iron construction that heats evenly
  • Detachable 13.8" handles for compact storage

Cons

  • Heads may not accept standard sandwich loaf slices
  • Some units reported missing handles or rust issues
  • Grill ridges can make cleaning fiddly

VerdictThis XL double pie iron delivers solid, even heat and the capacity to cook two full sandwiches or pies side-by-side, which keeps second servings hot. The cast-iron heads are pre-seasoned and provide reliable performance over coals or open flame, while the two-piece 13.8" handles unscrew for compact storage and reconnect securely at the fire. Care is straightforward — warm-water rinse and towel dry

    Outlasted cheaper alternatives

Used it many times; held up better than others I bought from local stores. Hinges on cheap models broke after a few uses — these are still going strong after dozens of grilled cheeses and pizzas.

  2. Susan Brandon 5/5

    Good value and accommodating

They perform well and are a bit larger so thicker bread fits nicely.

    Well-made and heavy-duty

Very well made. Heavy cast iron. Great for pies and such!

  4. Topogiyo 4/5

    Quality build but compact size

Good craftsmanship, but too small for larger American sandwich loaves. You can cut bread in half to make it fit.

    Solid, would buy again

    Great quality! Would purchase again!

    Perfect for a family campout

Worked great at our multi-generation outing. We made fruit pies and mini pizzas over the open fire and everyone enjoyed them.

  7. Ryan D. 5/5

    Makes excellent camp sandwiches

I love this camping gadget. Sandwiches crisp and brown without burning; fillings melt nicely. Favorite: pastrami and muenster on herbed focaccia with peppers and mustard.

  8. Customer 3/5

    Top quality, fits poorly

The cast-iron workmanship is excellent, but the plates are too small for standard sandwich bread — I tried three brands.

Sturdy and versatile, with a cleanup trade-off

Took these camping and used them for a range of fillings. They arrived pre-seasoned but I cleaned and reseasoned them anyway. The iron parts had no flaws and the poles feel solid. The handles unscrew into two pieces, which is handy for storage and lets you pick full or short length depending on the fire. The halves separate easily for filling and the detachable poles simplify cleaning. My only gripe is the internal grill ridges — they look nice but are harder to clean and the cavity is more Wonderbread-sized than I expected.

    Rusted quickly; awkward to pair

Mine developed rust quickly and was hard to use in tandem with another unit. I would avoid it.

    Muy resistente y pesada

A mi esposo le gustó mucho. Es pesada y muy resistente.

    Open and inspect on arrival

Quality-control problem: my set arrived with handles missing.
